ROTTERDAM, NY (01/07/2012)– NESQUIK Bunny visits Maple Ski Ridge to officially launch Ski & Snowboarding weekend lessons for 2012.

In their traditional family fun style, Maple Ski Ridge is welcoming the NESQUIK bunny Saturday, January 7th & Sunday, January 8th. The NESQUIK bunny will be there to kick off the opening of weekend lessons. This coincides with the 1st week of after school ski and snowboarding program. The weather outlook is giving Maple Ski Ridge time to make more snow for the fun activities, in preperation for the visit from the NESQUIK bunny. Everyone is invited to Maple Ski Ridge to share in the weekend, if they are enrolled in weekend lessons, just enjoying a nice weekend on our slopes, or stop in the lodge and get a samples of NESQUIK chocolate milk and take advantage of a photo opportunity with the NESQUIK bunny.

Maple Ski Ridge is in the middle of their 49th winter season, making a base of man made snow as they battle through the ever changing temperament of the northeast. Most ski and snowboarding destinations inside NY have been starved of much needed cold weather and natural snow needed to make snow consistently. Maple Ski Ridge has been able to make a base of manmade snow and they are currently operating at about 80% of full capacity. The recent break in the weather has given them the subzero temperatures needed to start a base on unopened trails. Maple Ski Ridge determined that in “perfect” snow making conditions one of their snow guns can cover a 30ft by 60ft area with one foot of snow in an hour. Maple Ski Ridge has more than a half dozen snow guns and if the current cold weather continues Maple Ski Ridge can play catch up with the snow making Winter ski & snowboarding season.

When the snow can’t be made, the staff is busy fine tuning equipment for rentals and ensuring their newly purchased Burton equipment is ready & safe. Maple Ski Ridge is always busy checking on equipment on the mountain such as the lifts and tow ropes to make sure when the conditions are in their favor, they will be ready & safe for people who visit. The lodge has a roaring fire each day as an invitation to sit and relax while watching young ones take the lift or ski the bunny hill. The lodge is constantly preparing, ensuring the lodge in clean, warm and inviting for all the families and friends who will come to spend the weekend riding the trails.

“We are so excited to finally be able to have families come out for the first weekend of ski and snowboarding lessons of the 2012 season. It is always exciting for the kids and parents alike to see how the kids have developed from last year and watch little ones take their first lessons,” said Kate Michener, Marketing/Special Events Coordinator. It is wonderful to see families return to us and the Schenectady ski school for lessons, we always appreciate their loyalty to us and are pleased that even though the perception is that there is no snow in the Northeast they have still showed up and seen that that is truly not the case. We were fully prepared for all after school lessons that have already happened and are prepared for the weekend lessons that are about to start and look forward optimistically for a successful ski and snowboarding season.”
